PhD stands for Permanent Head Damage and you are smart, you have been delaying that longer than others... no offence :), just relax... I knew one guy at IIT Kanpur who has been doing PhD for 9 years ... not complete ... so you are better off. Better have a discussion on your guide, what he wants ... that will quicken the process. I remember when I was at AIT SOM, I choose subjects not grades, people choose easy faculty for quick improvement of GPA, I did opposite and suffered ... after all I am also an engineer ... a dinner with your guide and a bit better relationship will make you Dr. Noor soon ...
